The 2001 Alumni Game had one of the best showings in recent years as over 40 alums were in attendance. Despite our large number of reserves the Alumni could not handle the school team's youth and dropped another one by a score of 12-8. Some of the faces who returned this year after a long absence were: Tommy and Timmy Allen ('82 and '84), Al Ferguson ('87), Yancey Wade ('92), Steve Wynne ('95), Josh Biggs ('92), Matt Boardman ('95), "Corn on the Cobb" Bob Jones ('78), and Chris Harkins ('84). Injury report: Timmy was placed on IR just before gametime. The thought of playing was enough. Craig Arnold was another casualty being sidelined with broken ribs. He is seeking revenge on the guy who "body slammed" him. Other than that, just some bruised egos. Highlight Reel: Josh Biggs netting a hard (?) bouncer and then face-planting on the follow through. MVP Awards: For making the long distance trip, Matt Peterson (DC), Al (Seattle), and Hark (Denver). "Seems Like Old Times": The Zalkin party had their hotel reservation cancelled after only 1 night. 2002 Outlook: Word has it that Smitty is rallying a crew for next year's gig, so look for more of the same. Remember, you don't have to wait until November of 2002 to make a trip back to SB. Details of the Spring Weekend will be posted soon. Tentative date of March 16th for a showdown with Sonoma St. in a rematch of last year's WCLL Title Game.
